Women are strange creatures. If you’ve spent anytime around long-married couples, you’ve probably heard the husband complain about how he doesn’t always know what he wife is carrying on about. But, luckily for you, there are some things that most girls are more or less interested in and you can use them to your advantage to help make her like you.
No matter what your age, background or looks, here are some things that you can do to help make her interested in you.
First, pay attention to her! Lots of guys have a tendency to half-listen to women when they speak and that’ll just piss her off. Paying attention to a woman isn’t just listening to her, either. There’s a lot you can do with eye contact. Whenever you speak to the girl, look her in the eyes. Don’t stand her down, but hold eye contact with her for most of the conversation. Lots of guys don’t make eye contact and it’s a simple way to show her that you’re paying attention to what she has to say and are interested. Smiling at her now and then is another way to subtle show her that you’re engaged in the conversation and happy to be talking with her.
Second, flirt with her. Flirting is a huge topic in and of itself, but here are some basic ideas you can use.
- Hold eye contact with her for longer than normal.
- Wink and smile at her. There are different kinds of smiles – above we mentioned using a smile as a welcoming gesture, but you can make them flirty, too.
- Be playful and make her laugh.
- Lightly touch her at key times during a conversation. This one is tricky because girls have different comfort levels, but an easy one is to touch her arm and “guide” her someplace if you’re walking together.
- Tease her. This might piss some chicks off, or she could think you’re immature. But depending on the circumstances and the girl, it can be a great tool.
Third, show her you’re a gentleman. Chivalry is a bit of a lost art these days. Simple things like holding the door for her, opening a car or taxi door, taking her coat and walking her home can have a big effect.
Forth, complement her. Women spend lots of time making themselves look good and love it when a man notices. A simple “oh, you look good today.” can go a long way.
Things you can be to get a girl to like you
As great as the above actions and behaviors are, they’re really only half the battle. You can be the nicest, most flirty and most polite guy on earth, but if you’re boring then she’s probably not going to want to be with you. Your personality is a lot of what makes a chick interested in you, so be sure to let it out!
Be interesting and have your own life. Lots of guys get stuck in the friend zone because they try to be too much of a friend and forget about their own interests. This is very bad! You gotta have your own interests, hobbies and friends. They help you develop other social skills, make you more interesting and give you some other ideas for conversations.
Be exciting! As much as women love romantic candle-light dinners, if you don’t have a romance going on, a dinner date can be pretty boring for her. Think of more exciting stuff to do and make it activity-based. Paintball is a far cooler first date idea than the Italian restaurant down the street (although not every chick will go for it!).
Be clean and neat. This is basic stuff, but it needs to go on the list: get a clean haircut, wear clothes that fit you well (throw out those ripped up skate boarding jeans), shave before you go see her and trim your finger nails. Lots of guys think that personal grooming and dress are in the realm of “girly-men” and metrosexuals, but that’s nonsense. Every guy needs to spend a bit of time in the morning making himself look good. The ladies will notice and you’ll stand out from the pack.
Be fit. You don’t have to be ripped, but you need to be healthy and exercise regularly. It makes you more interesting (see above) and makes you feel better about yourself. Girls love guys who are active and take care of their bodies. It’s attractive and going running together is a good way to get the blood pumping .

If you can go through the list above and check off 2/3s of the items, then you’re good to go. Now’s the time to make your move and ask her out on a date. Lots of guys stress too much about whether or not the lady is interest and they waste a lot of time and effort. Or, by the time you do get up the courage to ask her out, you’re already in the “friend zone” and she’s not having it! Staying out of the friend zone is pretty important if you want to learn how to pick up women.
So, muster up the courage and get her number, get a date and make progress. Most single women will say yes if you’re half-decent looking and not a complete blockhead.
